At Springfield Dance, our Beyond the Barre classes enhance and complement traditional dance training while offering dynamic movement experiences for students of all levels and interests. From performance-based artistry to strength and wellness, these classes build confidence, coordination, and creativity for dancers and non-dancers alike.

Silks (Aerial Arts)

Students build upper body strength, flexibility, and focus as they learn climbs, wraps, and poses on aerial silks.

  • Mini Movers (Age 5–6) – Introductory aerial work close to the ground with safety mats.

  • Jammin’ Juniors (Age 7–10) – Building technique and core control with choreographed skills.

  • Foundations / Progressions / Mastery (Age 11 & up) – Intermediate and advanced instruction in sequencing, strength, and artistic expression.

  • Adults – A fun, fitness-driven approach to aerial silks that promotes flexibility and strength.

Acrodance

A fusion of dance and tumbling skills in a non-competitive, technique-based environment. Builds flexibility, control, and athleticism.

  • Prancin’ Preschoolers (Age 3–4) – Introduction to basic acro skills in a fun, story-based setting.

  • Mini Movers (Age 5–6) – Foundational tumbling with movement integration.

  • Jammin’ Juniors (Age 7–10) – Developing skills including balances, limbers, and aerial work.

  • Foundations / Progressions / Mastery (Age 11 & up) – Skill-focused training paths designed to progress students through advanced acrobatic technique with safety and form.

🎭 Musical Theatre

A performance-based class that teaches acting, singing, and dancing in an engaging, creative atmosphere. Perfect for students who love the spotlight!

  • Jammin’ Juniors (Age 7–10) – Focus on character work, rhythm, and simple vocal/dance integration.

  • Foundations / Progressions / Mastery (Age 11 & up) – Development of theatrical style, stage presence, and ensemble work.

Conditioning and mindfulness classes that promote flexibility, strength, and mental clarity. Ideal for dancers and adults seeking balance.

  • Foundations / Progressions / Mastery (Age 11 & up) – Gentle flow, alignment, and breath work for teens and tweens.

  • Adults – Full-body workouts to tone, strengthen, and relax. Includes both low-impact Barre and guided Yoga.

🩰 Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT)

An innovative body-conditioning program that uses muscle memory to improve dancers' technique, alignment, and strength.

  • Jammin’ Juniors (Age 7–10) – Age-appropriate exercises with props to build posture and turnout awareness.

  • Foundations / Progressions / Mastery (Age 11 & up) – Focused drills to enhance classical ballet training and injury prevention.
