Foundations, Progressions, Mastery
These three levels are for the more advanced students, ages 11 and up, who have had many years of training. Students move from Foundations (beginning) to Mastery (advanced) at their own pace, depending on the number of hours they participate both in and out of the studio. Practice makes permanence, and we strive to guide each student at their personal pace to the level they desire to reach!
Foundations
In this level (formerly called “beginning”) students 11 and up have progressed from the Junior Levels with the basic concepts and strength firmly rooted. Students who are ready will be introduced to pointe in this level, and it is recommended that pointe students take at least 2 ballet/pointe classes per week to maintain ankle strength and build the appropriate foundation for a lifetime of dance! Students are placed in the Foundations level by studio director.
Progressions
Once a student has completed the Foundations in the previous level (or equivalent) he or she is ready for Progressions (formerly called “intermediate”). It is also recommended for the student to take at least 2 ballet/pointe classes per week to sustain the concepts learned in the previous level. There are optional electives including:
-Progressions/Foundations in Tap
-Progressions/Foundations in Modern
-Progressions/Foundations in Jazz
-Progressions/Foundations in Hip Hop
-Progressions in Pointe
Students are placed in the Progressions level by studio director.
Mastery
Mastery (formerly called “advanced”) is the top level of classes offered to students. These students are instructed in fine-tuning their technique in order to continue their love of dance beyond their high school years. Two ballet/pointe classes are required in order to participate in the Mastery level of ballet. Optional classes include:
-Mastery in Tap
-Mastery in Modern
-Mastery in Jazz
-Mastery in Pointe
Students are placed in the Mastery level by studio director.
