Mini Movers 5–6yrs

Mini Movers bring big energy, big personalities and a growing sense of independence into the classroom. At this age, we begin building stronger technique and classroom responsibility while still giving dancers plenty of room to be creative, curious and excited about movement.

What Parents Can Expect

Our Mini classes are led by qualified adult instructors who understand this important transition from early childhood into more structured learning. Classes balance clear expectations and positive reinforcement with age-appropriate creativity, helping dancers develop coordination, confidence, listening skills and independence.

This is also an exciting age to explore more. In addition to ballet and tap, Mini Movers may begin hip hop, AcroDance and aerial silks, with skills introduced progressively and with careful, hands-on instruction.

Mini 1 & Mini 2
Light Blue

These classes are split into two separate levels: one for Kindergartners and the other for First Graders. The skill set for each level is complimentary to the capabilities of these age groups. Each class is an hour in length, split between ballet and tap. We use props and tools to engage the students who will thrive from positive reinforcement. 

Acrodance

Acro is the perfect blend of tumbling and dance. Students exercise flexibility, strength and an amazing set of tumbling skills. Acro compliments any dance class or can be taken on its own to build tumbling skills.

All of our instructors are certified, adult professionals.

Silks

A fun introduction to aerial silks for our Mini Movers! Dancers build coordination, strength, body awareness and confidence while learning foundational aerial skills with qualified adult instructors.

Skills are introduced progressively and with hands-on guidance, making silks an exciting complement to early dance and acro training.

Hip Hop

Raise your hands in the air! Mini Movers get the unique opportunity to participate in this high energy, parent friendly hip hop class. Popular music for this age group is used to enhance skills, and get the kiddos moving!

Springfield Dance Theatre – Mini Performers (Ages 5–7)

Springfield Dance Theatre holds auditions twice a year for our storybook ballets, open to Springfield Dance students ages 5 and up. Mini dancers who audition and are cast perform in colorful, age-appropriate roles that bring familiar stories to life on stage.

For young dancers who love performing, this can be an early introduction to future Pre-Company, Company and Springfield Dance Theatre opportunities, with continued pathways that may eventually lead to experiences with Copper Coin Ballet Company.
